Strawberry Black Eye is the most common cause of strawberry plants not producing fruits.

This is easily reconisable by the centre of the flower turning black. Partial frost damage can produce fruit that is distorted or miss-shaped.
How to protect against Strawberry Black Eye:
For the best possible results, avoid planting strawberries in frost pockets or on exposed sites
Protect plants in flower when frost is forecast with a temporary cover such as horticultural fleece or newspaper.
Weigh this down to prevent it from blowing off the plants, and lift it during the day to allow access for pollinators.

Taking some simple precautions early in the season will result in a crop of strawberies that are healthy and tastey in time for harvesting.
