Allotmenteers at Wharncliffe began preparing their onion sets last month for the new season. Giving your onions a little extra growing time in relatively warm conditions, they often go on to produce a better yield.
Shortly, all the onions will be in the ground after getting the best possible start.

Onion Growing Tip
Planting out your onions in the ground approximately 10cm (4in) apart in rows 30cm (12in) apart from mid-March to mid-April. Gently push the sets into soft, well-worked soil so that the tip is just showing, and firm the soil around them.
